Please read through all the information prior to booking. 

Where is The Mill Street Stage? 

Mill Street Stage, located at 13 Mill Street in Fitchburg MA, 01420. 

About the Mill Street Stage: 

The Mill Street Stage is a safe, well lit vibrant place for people to gather, shop, and connect in downtown Fitchburg. Mill Street was once a forgotten alleyway, hidden from view in downtown Fitchburg, but that is not the case anymore. We want you to help Activate Mill Street by creating an exciting new place downtown that harkens back to the street’s unique history as a gathering space for people, commerce, music, and fun. 

The stage itself is a 15ft x 22ft stage great as a medium size outdoor venue with steps leading up to it about 5in tall. It comes with an attached cage that can be activated as a vendor/refreshment booth. 


Amenities:

  • Seasonal porta–potty (code given when you submit your deposit)
  • 8 PVC 7ft fences
  • Hook-ups for electric in the electric box (extension cords not provided) (located within the locked cage)
  • 20 metal folding chairs & 10 small metal tables
  • Large Trash Bin (Bags not provided) 
  • Trash Grabber
  • Pop-up vendor booth set-up (when you open the cage)

Interested in Providing Alcohol?

If you are interested in having alcohol served at your event The Cellar at 14 Mill St. is open regularly Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm - 1am right outside of the stage. They can extend their program area to suit the needs of your event. They will need 6 weeks notice to serve so that they can extend their premise for service. The Cellar may be interested in opening to serve for your event. Call Mike Roy for more info: (978) 906-0434

If providing your own alcohol service:

If providing your own alcohol the booking will need to be on a date The Cellar Bar is not open regularly (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Sundays). If you are scheduling on a day that the Cellar is open you will need to have them provide your service and you will need to connect with Mike Roy (978) 303-5032. If offering alcohol service on a (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Sunday) then 6 weeks prior to your event you will need to:
  • Schedule & attend a meeting with the License Commission.
  • Fill out a permit for your: One-day beer and wine license
  • Have some onsite that is TIPS Certified. 
  • The area must be contained & there must be proper signage (We have 7ft PVC barriers behind the cage avail. for use.) 
  • We also highly recommend that you get one day Liquor Liability Insurance.

For selling food:

If you as an individual, business or organization are going to serve food to the general public, for a fee or at no cost, a food permit is required.

Ground Rules:

Ground Rules for Booking Mill St. Public Stage:

Equipment and Structure: You will be held accountable and may be restricted from booking Mill St. in the future if you or your party damages any equipment or components of the structure. Accidents happen, but any harm must be reported immediately.

Cleanliness: Carry in and carry out. Leave the area as you found it, or better.

Permits: Make sure you have all the proper permits for your event. Unauthorized events may face consequences.

Respect for Others: Be respectful of the space and the people around you. Excessive noise or disturbances may result in being asked to leave.

Security Deposit: A security deposit of $100 is required. This deposit will be refunded if all terms are met and the stage, cage and surroundings are clean following your event.

Time Management: Stick to the agreed-upon booking times. Overstaying your allotted time may disrupt other bookings.

Safety: Ensure the safety of all attendees and staff. Any violation of safety protocols may result in the immediate cancellation of the event.

Compliance: All activities must comply with local laws and regulations.

Booking Priority: Priority will be given to those who have previously followed the rules and guidelines.

Responsibility: The person booking the stage is responsible for the actions of their group and ensuring that all participants adhere to these rules.

Notification: Notify the authorities in case of any incidents or accidents.

No Unauthorized Modifications: Do not make any modifications to the stage or surrounding area without prior approval.

By booking Mill St. Public Stage, you agree to adhere to these ground rules. Failure to comply may result in penalties, including being banned from future bookings.


How to Book Mill Street?

Once you have read through all of the information above you may begin your application to book the Mill Street Stage for your next event. Please print paper copies of the following and bring them with you when you submit your deposit.
  • Step 1: Reserve Mill Street Stage (A City of Fitchburg Facility)
  • Step 2: Submit an online City of Fitchburg Public Assembly Form filled through the City Clerk's Office. (The Mill Street address is: 13 Mill Street, Fitchburg, MA. *If that does not come up on the form type in the City Hall Address (718 Main Street Fitchburg MA and then tell them that you are booking The Mill Street Stage))
  • Step 3: Print and sign our Release, Settlement and Use Agreement bring it with you to the Community Development Office when submitting your deposit.
  • Step 4: Submit a $100 cash or check security deposit to the Community Development and Planning Office on the 3rd floor of City Hall. This is required to get the Mill St. keys and code to the porta–potty. (Deposit will be returned with you return the keys and if there is no damage or trash at the Mill Street. Stage area) You can call 978-829-1890 or email CommDev@fitchburgma.gov to schedule a time up to 2 weeks prior to your event to grab the keys during City Hall business hours. You will be asked for a paper copy of your Release, Settlement and Use Agreement. You must bring back the keys within 2 weeks after your event. Failure to do so may result in not being able to book Mill Street again and will result in the withdrawal of your security deposit.
  • (Optional) Alcohol One-Day License.
