WATER USE RESTRICTIONS
LIFTED EFFECTIVE JULY 13, 2021

The water use restrictions imposed on June 11, 2021 are hereby lifted due to the wet weather and heavy rainfall of the past weeks. The lifting of restrictions is based on the flow of the North Nashua River between being above 24 cubic feet per second (cfs) for seven consecutive days.
The water use restrictions may be reinstated in the future if flows at the monitoring station fall below 24 cfs for three consecutive days.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, in accordance with WATER WITHDRAWAL PERMIT #9P-2-08-097.01, requires the City of Fitchburg, D.P.W. – Division of Water Supply to implement seasonal restrictions on nonessential outdoor water use based upon the flow of the North Nashua River between the period of May 1 to September 30, as measured at USGS stream flow gage # 0109440 located near the Fifth Street Bridge, Fitchburg, MA.
