the Fitchburg Municipal Airport (FIT)

Serving the North Central Massachusetts Aviation Community. Located between the cities of Fitchburg and Leominster, FIT is home to many businesses offering a range of aviation services including flight training, scenic flights, charter flights, aircraft maintenance, and aviation medical exams. We are also a proud homebase for Air Methods!

FIT maintains RUNWAY (14-32) suitable for corporate jet use at 5001ft.

Environmental Assessment 

for Airport Related Improvements 

at the Fitchburg Municipal Airport

 

The Fitchburg Municipal Airport, in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, FAA Orders 1050.1F, has completed an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Avigation Easement Acquisition, Vegetation Obstruction Removal, Corporate and General Aviation Hangar Development, Perimeter Fencing, Terminal Area Development, Non-Aeronautical Use Development, and ASOS Relocation at the Fitchburg Municipal Airport, Fitchburg, MA.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Plan and Goal 

 

The City of Fitchburg Airport Commission hereby announces its goal of 6.58% for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation on Airport Improvement Program (AIP) contracts at the Fitchburg Municipal Airport for FY 2024 - 2026.

MINIMUM STANDARDS

Minimum Standards - Effective July 1, 2025 

The Minimum Standards are intended to be the threshold requirements for activity on the airport. 

The City, as sponsor and landlord, is committed to open government while striving to consistently meet the community’s expectations by providing excellent service in a positive and timely manner in full view of the public.

Airport Master Plan and Airport Layout Plan

The Fitchburg Airport Commission has completed the Airport Master Plan and Airport Layout Plan for the Fitchburg Municipal Airport. The Master Plan consisted of a review of the adequacy of airport facilities with respect to compliance with FAA design and safety standards as well as the ability to address the needs of the Airport for the 20-year planning period. 

All Master Plan chapters were presented at Airport Commission meetings aired on FATV and were made available on the Airport’s website for public review and comment. The Fitchburg Airport Commission encouraged the public to attend Commission meetings to learn more about the Master Plan and participate in the process. 

The Fitchburg Airport Commission thanks Gale Associates and all who participated in the process.

  • Badge fee: $13 year/$26 two years
