The Downtown Block Party, formed under the leadership of Mayor Mary H. Whitney in 1999 has become one of the most highly attended annual events in the City of Fitchburg. Civic Days Volunteers in close coordinating with the Fitchburg Police Department, Department of Public Works, and Recreation Department close upper Main Street for upwards of 6 hours every year to bring the community to street for a variety of children’s activities, music, artist displays, acts, and events for people of all ages. With over 100 vendors selling a variety of art, jewelry, and local food, there is something for everyone in the family to do.
