Full Description

Join the Rec Department in your local park this summer for crafts, sports, games and more. Free lunch included for those 17 and under through the USDA Summer Food Service Program.


The Summer Playground program is open to children ages 2-17. Participants under the age of 5 must be accompanied by an adult for the day. The program runs July 5th- August 18th, Monday—Friday from 9:30am—2:30pm, weather permitting.  This program is offered to Fitchburg residents at NO COST.

*Several low cost/no cost field trips are taken throughout the summer. Trips will be announced shortly!* Field Trip Reservations will be available online at www.fitchburgma.gov/activities and are limited to participants of the Fitchburg Playground Program. Field trips are limited to 100 participants on a first come first serve basis.



This year's participating parks include:
  • Coggshall Park
  • Coolidge Park
  • Crocker Park
  • Parkhill Park
  • Goodrich Street Playground
  • Green Street Playground

The Fitchburg Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel participating parks due to low resident participation.

Be sure to:
  • Arrive wearing comfortable athletic clothing
  • Wear closed toed shoes (no flip flops or sandals).
  • Wear Sunscreen
  • Come ready for fun!

SUMMER NUTRITION PROGRAM

The Summer Nutrition Program does not require participation in the Summer Playground Program, however participants must check in at the park before 10am.

Lunch is provided free of charge through the Department of Education and the Fitchburg Recreation Department to all children participating in the Summer Playground Program.

Children receiving a lunch must be signed in and at the park by 10:00 AM. Lunch will be served from 10:55 to 11:45. Lunches must be consumed at the playground.
