Parks Division

Gateway Park GardensThe Park's Division of the Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining over 400 Acres of land in 33 parks throughout the City. The division provides grounds-keeping, maintenance, street repair and field maintenance for every park. Additionally the Parks Division maintains the city's public pool, splashparks, traffic islands and the City Forests. The Division is overseen by the Superintendent of Streets and the Board of Park Commissioners

Park Rentals

Municipal Parks are available to book for special events, parties, ball games and more. During reservations the Parks are still open to the public, however the permittee is given priority on the use of specific facilities such as ball fields, basketball courts, or multipurpose fields. Parks can be closed for private events by special permission from the Board of Park Commissioners. All park rentals are subject to approval by the Board of Park Commissioners and administered by the Fitchburg Recreation Department. See Visit Our Parks for a list of Parks and Playground. 

COGGSHALL PARK

With over 200 acres of land, Coggshall Park offers something for every season. gazebo9Spring brings mountain laurel blooms, while the the breeze from the lake and the shade of the large pines are ideal for cooling off in the summer. Beautiful foliage brings out the photographers in autumn, and winter provides the opportunity for skating on Mirror Lake and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing on the array of trails.
