Fitchburg/Westminster Sanitary Landfill and Drop-Off

The Fitchburg Landfill is located at 101 Fitchburg Rd. 

(Rt. 31 south of Rt. 2).  

The Landfill drop-off is open to Fitchburg residents:

Monday 8:00 am-3:00 pm (yard waste only)
 Wednesday 7:30 am-3:00 pm
 Friday 7:30 am-12:00 pm 
 Saturday 7:30-1:00 pm. 

*Effective October 1, 2023 Residents will need to speak to an attendant for access to all disposal sheds in the drop-off area except the Swap Shed.

Residents can obtain a Residential Landfill Sticker or Recycling Permit for access to the Landfill drop-off area.

A Recycling Permit allows you to bring to the Landfill drop-off recycling, scrap metal and yard waste (no trash) while the Residential Landfill Permit adds permission to bring trash and a limited amount of construction debris.  

A Recycling Permit is free to residents.

The Landfill property owner Permit is $35 per year and non-property owner Residential Permit is $50 annually. 

The Landfill Permit fee for residents who own multiple properties is $35 plus $20 per unit owned.  All permits can be obtained at the Health Department, City Hall 718 Main St. or online at the links above.

A one day pass can be issued for trash cleanouts or construction debris disposal. A one day pass is $50 per day up to a limit of 1 ton of material disposed.

Console and Monitor TV: $30

Monitors (computer): $30

Space Heater: $25

Truck Tires: $30

Washer/Dryer: $25

Water Heater: $25

All permit and drop-off disposal fees must be made at the Health Dept. at 718 Main St., or online here prior to disposal.  Fees are subject to change without prior notice.

The Landfill now has a 24 Hour Odor Complaint Hotline. Odor complaints can still be made to the Health Department at 978-829-1870 between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM on Monday through Fridays. During off hours complaints can be made by calling 866-987-0985
