Where to Visit During Construction

The Fitchburg Public Library Board of Trustees is pleased to confirm the City of Fitchburg is moving forward with plans to renovate and expand the Library at 610 Main Street. While this downtown landmark is under construction, the Library will relocate to the Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority, located at Putnam Place, 166 Boulder Drive, directly across the street from our current location.

The Library will be closed to the public for a few weeks in the coming months to facilitate the move. The dates of closing will be provided in advance of the relocation project and, once determined, those dates will be advertised on the Library website and social media, the City website, and FATV. We will then reopen in our new location at Putnam Place. All materials checked out prior to our temporary closing will be automatically renewed until after we have reopened. Patrons are encouraged to make use of neighboring CWMARS libraries and FPL's online resources during our transition to the new location.

While housed at Putnam Place, the Library will be open and active for all. We will have a large portion of our collection available to borrow. Patrons will also be able to rely on our library consortium, CWMARS, to reserve and fulfill requests for materials we may not have readily available. The Library will continue to offer information and reference services, public computers, WiFi, hotspots, printing, copying, faxing, meeting spaces for the public, story times, programming, museum passes, and more!
